The Challenge

EEI's web site, a critical component to the organization, failed to effectively support the Institute's mission, goals and business activities.  The web site was poorly organized making it difficult for key audiences to find specific content.  Additionally, some areas of their business were not represented on the web site at all.  EEI determined that providing associates, who contributed their own content, the ability to easily update it would address many of their issues.

EEI recognized that a content-rich, organized and active site would allow them to track and assess their end user's needs and respond appropriately.  They felt a robust content management application would assist them in addressing their concerns and ultimately purchased divine Participant Server (Eprise).  They partnered with Ironworks to implement their application.



The Solution
Ironworks first worked with EEI to develop their Intranet strategy and plan the rollout.  The integrated team at Ironworks, after developing the strategy and plan, defined detailed requirements, created design specifications and implemented the customized dPS content management solution for EEI.  This was followed by content contributor training and rollout of the Intranet by department as content and functionality was added.

 

Once the Intranet had successfully been deployed, our focus turned toward their public web site.  In comparison to their Intranet, this was a more complex environment consisting of greater volumes of e-content contributors, custom application functionality and authentication requirements.  In order to meet a very aggressive launch date, Ironworks initiated a "rolling" development plan.  This allowed content contributors to begin migrating their content by site section.



The Results
    Some of the results EEI has realized as a result of a well designed and implemented content management application are as follows:
