The Challenge

AMF Bowling Worldwide, Inc. implemented JD Edwards Oneworld and its Portal Server to support their corporate Intranet.  This solution is widely used within the organization and extremely well-regarded by both IT and Intranet users; however IT realized that they had become a bottleneck in the process of contributing content to the Intranet.  They had to manually collect and post all new and modified content to the Intranet and then deploy these content changes to multiple servers.  The challenge facing AMF was to put the content contribution into the hands of the business owners while maintaining the functionality provided by the JD Edwards Portal Server for Intranet content delivery.

The Solution

Ironworks evaluated alternative solutions for providing a content management infrastructure. Based on AMF's CMS requirements and their desire to continue to utilize the existing portal server for content delivery, Interwoven Teamsite was selected.

Ironworks worked with AMF to quickly identify their requirements surrounding business process management, content capture framework, asset delivery paths, and presentation delivery requirements in order to conform to JDE Portal standards. In less than a month, Ironworks performed the software install and delivered the following:

  • Domain authentication integration
  • Three data capture templates
  • 12 presentation templates - for JDE Portal delivery
  • Two workflows
  • Branching architecture
  • Security architecture
  • A generalized metadata capture schema and deployed the solution to AMF's production environment

The Results

AMF realized the following results:

  • Content contribution process is greatly streamlined
  • Overhauled content contribution process while retaining customer-friendly JD Edwards Portal application for delivery.
  • Business content owners empowered to control their own content removing IT from the equation
  • IT resources freed to work on more strategic initiatives
  • Greatly reduced time and effort for content deployment to multiple environments via automated workflow
