Calling all developers interested in Java technologies and new tools and frameworks! Join Ironworks at the Richmond Java User’s Group on May 18th as Dennis Sharpe, Sr Developer at Ironworks presents the topic of Blending Technologies.
About the Presentation:
MVC technologies have grown alongside the web from their infancy to the modern state of RAD environments, such as GRAILS. Tools like JEE provide dependable and proven technologies that can be leveraged by engineers to create complex systems. RAD tools like Ruby and GRAILS provide rapid prototyping and easy to master syntax. By blending technologies, we aim to leverage the best from both worlds. Topics will include:
· Extending the core Spring MVC (Struts 2)
· Using Groovy for controller code
· Using Freemarker to view templates
· RESTful delivery of the View and Controller from your CMS
· Brief soap box on JEE and OSS
About the Presenter:
Dennis is a Java Developer with 12 years of experience in software development. His roles have varied between Technical Lead, Sr. Developer, and Architect which includes design, coding, documentation, and mentoring. He has worked with the following technologies: Java/JEE (Servlet, EJB, JDBC, JMS, Serial API, Mail API, etc.), Apache Commons, Struts, Weblogic, Websphere, Oracle Application Server, ant, maven, web services, Hudson, Oracle, MS SQL Server, various change management systems, HTML, Javascript, XML, and various other technologies.
